It was a symbol of victory in pagan antiquity that later became a symbol of Christ’s Resurrection and victory over death (22:16; 2 Pet 1:19). The promise here is a bodily resurrection and may also allude to the believer’s triumph over the dark forces at work in pagan astrological practices.
