CHRIST IS LIGHT AND JUDGE. OECUMENIUS: “And his eyes,” it says, “were as a flame of fire.” The flame indicates either his radiance, since Christ is indeed a light and calls himself this, saying, “I am the light and the truth,”or it represents his fearsomeness and the threat made against the seven churches to which the visions of the Revelations are being sent, since they are not perfectly following his laws.
