for burial:Jesus’ anointing is a twofold sign: (1) It points to the immeasurable value of Jesus’ presence. The costly ointment is not wasted but used in a generous act of reverence and worship. (2) It points forward to Jesus’ Passion and death as his own priceless gift for man’s salvation.
