Satan!:Jesus rebukes Peter for rejecting the prospect of suffering. Scandalized and perhaps frightened, Peter briefly aligned himself with the mind-set of Satan, who similarly tried to divert Jesus from his mission to suffer (Mt 4:1-11; Lk 4:113). The Crucifixion proved to be a “stumbling block” to many of Jesus’ contemporaries (1 Cor 1:23).
