looking for the kingdom:Joseph of Arimathea risked his honored reputation as a member of the Jewish court, the Sanhedrin. Withholding consent, he distanced himself from the council’s verdict against Jesus (22:71) and now arranges his burial. He is elsewhere called a “disciple” (Mt 27:57; Jn 19:38).
