King of the Jews?:Jesus hesitates to adopt the title because Pilate is thinking in purely political terms (Jn 6:15). Jesus’ kingdom is heavenly, not earthly, leaving Pilate with no legitimate grounds to accuse him of challenging Roman authority (Jn 18:36).
