a kingdom:Jesus confers royal authority on the apostles and entrusts them with the Church on earth (12:32).

• Jesus alludes to the prophetic vision of Daniel 7, in which God gives a worldwide kingdom to the Son of man, who in turn gives it to the saints (Dan 7:18, 22, 27). In context, these events coincide with the Son of man’s heavenly enthronement (Dan 7:13-14). The historical unfolding of this prophecy begins with the Ascension of Jesus and the birth of the Church (Mk 14:62; 16:19; Acts 7:56).
