Jude:Literally, “Judas”, which is a Greek form of the Hebrew name “Judah”. For his identity, see introduction: Author.

servant:Or, “slave”.

brother of James:Jude’s brother is the James who assumed pastoral leadership over the Jerusalem Church after the Apostle Peter left the city for missionary lands (Acts 12:17). Both men were kinsmen of Jesus (Mt 13:55).
