a symbol:Isaac’s escape from death (Gen 22:9-12) on the third day after God decreed it (Gen 22:4) prefigures the third-day Resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor 15:4). Abraham’s faith in the power of God to rescue Isaac from death shines through his words spoken on the occasion: “I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you” (Gen 22:5).
