better, “they also will listen”. Paul is not slamming the door onthe Jews permanently, since some are still accepting his message (28:24). The pattern seen here and elsewhere in Acts is a regional pattern: rejection of the gospel by local Jews turns the focus of Paul’s outreach to local Gentiles instead (13:46; 18:6). At no time does Paul fully abandon his mission to the “sons of Israel” (9:15).
