You shall not speak evil:Paul apologizes to the court with a quotation from Ex 22:28.

• The prohibition comes from the Book of the Covenant, a body of case law given to Israel at Mt. Sinai (Ex 21-23). Paul made it clear that he holds himself to this law, although it remains unclear why he did not recognize the high priest.
